History & Milestones

Enventure was established as a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell Technology Ventures. Both companies had been exploring the possibility of forming a new limited-liability company dedicated to the development and commercialization of expandable tubular technology. Enventure was born in 1998 only two months after proof-of-concept tests demonstrated the feasibility of expanding oilfield country tubulars (OCTG).

Enventure marked its thirteenth anniversary in 2011 with a multitude of industry milestones. The first commercial installation of a SET System was in 1999 for Chevron, just outside Louisiana state waters in the Gulf of Mexico. Since then, we have provided SET solid expandable solutions for more than 150 customers worldwide in a variety of open- and cased-hole applications. Some of our most noteworthy achievements include:

  • Three SET Openhole Liners installed in same wellbore
  • First MonoSET OHC Installation
  • 1,000,000 ft expanded – December 2009
  • 1,000th SET® installation (PDF)– November 2008
  • Record-length solid expandable installation (PDF)– May 2007
  • First expandable/intelligent completion installation – 2005
  • First installation through a window exit – 2003
  • First 13 Chrome expandable solution – 2001
