Question:
What were the top 5 components of making the single-diameter openhole clad a success?

Answer:
A number of things had to come together to make the first truly successful commercial installation happen. But here are the big things, without which a quality project execution just wouldn’t have been possible:

  1. Proper advanced planning between Enventure and the customer, uncovering a full understanding of customer’s well conditions and making sure the well’s parameters are within Enventure tool’s operating envelope.
  2. Appropriate, diligent hole preparation of the well section where the MonoSET™ OHC system was installed. This meant under-reaming the hole to the correct size and verifying with caliper runs, which was important for successful expansion, anchoring and zonal isolation.
  3. Aggressive design qualification tests and multiple functionality checks during different stages of tool preparation for the job. It’s better to take your time and make sure everything is in order along the way than to rush through and create problems for the expansion farther along in the project.
  4. Also along the lines of redundancy, we conducted multiple reviews of tool designs and installation procedures by multiple departments and also on the operator side. Being thorough in this respect added significant efficiency to the installation process and mitigated a level of operational risk moving forward.
  5. Getting the release joint deployed successfully was a big part of the win. This component releases operational (ballast) casing from expandable casing, without which the job would have required at least three additional trips in the hole. It saved a lot of rig time and money on the customer side, and made the job much more efficient on the whole.
