Enventure Helps Take on Canada's Oil Sands

Summary:

Surface temperature at Tucker Lake in Canada’s Saskatchewan province see temperatures below 40°F below. Below surface steam injection exposes wells to temperatures well exceeding 500°F. One such well, operated by a Calgary-based company, had experienced casing failure at about 600 ft do to the severe operating conditions associated with steam injection. A hole in the casing had been identified as well as several other areas of deformation.

This operation saved the well, and possibly the whole pad, without damaging its economic potential.

Enventure engineers were engaged and proposed a newly designed SET® High-Temperature Cased-hole Liner. A single-joint (40-foot) 9-5/8 x 11-3/4 in. liner rated 518°F at 1,000 psi was selected.
