In 2009, a global super-major operating out of Borneo experienced problems with a well it was running from a drillship in over 5,000 feet of water off of the Sarawakan coast. An initial exploration well working a straight hole in a shale formation, the operator encountered an unstable section threatening the well’s designed drilling trajectory and evaluation objectives. The company used an Enventure SET® Openhole Liner (OHL) to mitigate the trouble zone and keep the well’s original drilling path. Twice.
