How SET® Technology Works
SET® Systems are a solid expandable tubular solution (radially enlarged solid steel pipe). Each SET System is made up of an expansion tool (launcher), expandable anchors (liner hangers) and expandable pipe. Using a bottom-up expansion process, the expandable pipe (EX-80 - similar to L-80) is expanded downhole. SET Systems use a cold-working process to permanently deform the expandable pipe into the plastic region staying well below the ultimate yield.
SET Systems have been installed
- In lengths as short as 30 feet and as long as almost 7,000 ft
- Through window exits and milled sections
- Inside horizontal and deviated wells
- On deepwater and onshore rigs
The flexibility of design enables each system to be tailored for a variety of applications. In addition, SET Technology can be combined with other enabling technologies such as intelligent completions and multilaterals.
